Pune, 21st March 2023: Passengers at Pune airport are reporting a rise in luggage bags with broken locks and stolen or damaged valuables. Many have taken to social media to voice their complaints, with some stating that airline staff have been unhelpful in resolving the issue.

One passenger, George Paul, reported on Twitter that his baggage had been damaged upon arrival at Pune airport and that the airline had only offered a Rs 700 voucher as compensation. Another passenger, Erna Suchiawaty, claimed that her money had been stolen from her luggage while travelling on SpiceJet from Dubai to Pune.

Many passengers are calling for strict action to be taken against ground staff responsible for luggage handling.

An anonymous senior official of the Airport Authority of India (AAI) Pune stated that complaints of broken and stolen luggage are taken seriously, with strict instructions given to airline ground staff. Despite this, passengers continue to report instances of damaged or stolen luggage, prompting concerns over the security of luggage at Pune airport.
