Pune, 1st June 2025: In a significant development aimed at easing air traffic and improving passenger convenience, 15 additional civil flight slots have been allotted during peak hours at Pune International Airport. The move increases the number of daily flight movements from 220 to 235.

Pune MP and Minister of State for Civil Aviation, Murlidhar Mohol, made the announcement on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday. “With the cooperation of the IAF, 15 more civil flight slots have been added during peak hours at Pune International Airport, raising daily movements from 220 to 235. This is our dedicated step to ensure faster and smoother journeys for you. Happy Flying Punekars!” he posted.

The development follows long-standing demands from airlines and passengers for better scheduling flexibility and reduced congestion at Pune Airport, which operates from a facility shared with the Indian Air Force (IAF). Due to limited civil operating hours, the airport has faced capacity constraints in recent years.

The increase in flight slots is expected to provide relief during peak travel hours—typically morning and evening—allowing airlines to operate more flights and improve connectivity to key domestic destinations.

Airport officials and aviation industry stakeholders have welcomed the move, calling it a step toward meeting Pune’s growing air travel demand. The city, a major IT and industrial hub, has witnessed a steady rise in passenger traffic.
