Pune Airport Hit by Major Disruptions: 16 Flights Cancelled, 19 Delayed
Viman Nagar, 4th December: Passengers at Pune Airport faced significant delays and cancellations on Thursday as a parking bay crunch forced airlines to hold aircraft on the ground for extended durations, disrupting schedules throughout the day.
Airport Director Santosh Dhoke said the airport has deployed all available resources to support travellers. “All operational teams across terminal management, security, apron services, and passenger facilitation remain fully mobilized to assist passengers and ensure smooth terminal functioning,” Dhoke said.
According to the latest operational update, eight arrivals and eight departures have been cancelled. Airport data shows several A320 and A21N aircraft among those stuck on the ground. Nineteen other flights have been delayed by over an hour, and 11 aircraft continue to block bays due to operational constraints.
Dhoke attributed the situation primarily to the unavailability of operating crew. “The extended ground presence of multiple IndiGo aircraft awaiting crew availability has severely constrained parking bay availability. This has led to sequential delays across all airlines,” he said.
He added that Pune Airport is closely coordinating with airlines, ground handling teams, Air Traffic Control, CISF, and terminal staff to relieve apron congestion and restore normal operations as soon as possible.
“Passenger welfare remains the highest priority. We appreciate the understanding and cooperation of all travellers during this disruption,” Dhoke stated, advising passengers to reconfirm their flight timings before arriving at the airport.
