Pune Airport Implements 100% Secondary Checks on Flights for Republic Day

Viman Nagar, 23rd January 2026 : Security arrangements at Pune Airport have been significantly tightened ahead of the Republic Day celebrations, with multiple layers of surveillance and checks put in place to ensure passenger safety and protect critical infrastructure.
Quick Reaction Teams (QRTs) have been deployed and CISF personnel have intensified patrolling in and around the airport premises. Vehicles and passengers are being subjected to thorough проверки at approach nakas leading to the terminal buildings. In addition, Compulsory Secondary Ladder Point Checking (SLPC) of all flights has been made mandatory from January 20 and will continue till January 30, covering 100 percent of departures.
Surveillance around the airport premises has been further enhanced, while security at the Cargo Terminal has also been strengthened.
Authorities have intensified monitoring and access control of ground handling staff and other airport personnel to prevent any unauthorised movement within restricted zones.
A special security coordination meeting was convened with all stakeholders, during which agencies were instructed to heighten vigilance and take every possible precautionary and preventive measure.
Pune Airport Director Santosh Dhoke said, “In view of the Republic Day celebrations, we have significantly strengthened security at Pune Airport. All agencies are working in close coordination to ensure the safety and security of passengers, aircraft and airport infrastructure. We appeal to travellers to cooperate with security personnel and arrive well in advance to avoid inconvenience.”
Officials said the enhanced measures will remain in force through the Republic Day period to maintain a high level of alert and preparedness.
