Pune Airport Soars to New Heights with 80 Lakh Passengers in 2023, Ranks 9th Among Busiest Airport
Pune, 5th February 2024: Pune Airport witnessed a thriving year in 2023, welcoming over 80 lakh passengers and reclaiming its pre-Covid-19 status. The airport is poised to surpass the 90 lakh passenger mark by the end of the current financial year.
An impressive 59,451 flights graced Pune Airport last year, contributing to an approximate revenue of Rs 148 crores. Pune now secures the ninth position among the country’s busiest airports, showcasing robust air traffic despite facing over a thousand flight cancellations.
Comparing the recent achievements to the pre-pandemic era, the figures reveal a noteworthy consistency. In the fiscal year 2019-20, Pune Airport accommodated 80,85,607 passengers. In 2022-23, the airport witnessed 80,07,160 travelers, signifying a resilient recovery.
The period between April 1 and December 31, 2023, saw a staggering 71,24,151 passengers navigating through Pune Airport. With the current financial year concluding on March 31, projections hint at an additional 2 million passengers, propelling the annual count beyond
90 lakhs.
