Pune: AIT Team Bagged Various Titles in PACE Sports Festival

Pune, 4th March 2025: The ‘PACE 2025’, an inter-college sports festival organized by the Sports Club of Army Institute of Technology (AIT) in Dighi, witnessed the enthusiasm and talent of the students. Around 2400 players from 182 teams from more than 30 colleges participated in the festival. In which AIT’s team bagged titles in various sports.
PACE Sports Festival was held at the AIT campus in Dighi from 28th February to 3rd March 2025. This sports festival featured competitions in basketball, cricket, volleyball, football, lawn tennis, table tennis, badminton, chess, kabaddi, squash, etc. Out of these sports categories, AIT’s team won the title in Basketball, Volleyball, Badminton, Chess, and Football.
The Sports Festival was inaugurated by boxer Jasmin Lamboria, who represented India at the Paris Olympics and won a bronze medal at the Commonwealth Games 2022. RJ Sangram Khopde was present on the occasion. The prize distribution was done by the coach of the Indian women’s basketball team and Shiv Chhatrapati Award winner Arnika Gujar Patil. Director of ‘AIT’ Brigadier Abhay Bhat (Retd), Joint Director Colonel M. K. Prasad (Retd), Principal Dr. B. P. Patil along with the office bearers of the sports club, staff, and students were present on the occasion.
While addressing Arnika Gujar, Patil said, “College-level sports competitions are a great platform. Therefore, it is important to participate and play better. You should empower yourself by acquiring skills in your favorite sport, and focus on fitness and practice. That is what makes athletes. You should have the aspiration to represent your college, state, and country.”
Jasmine Lamboria emphasized the importance of incorporating innovative engineering solutions into sports infrastructure. She noted that cutting-edge technology and proper design not only help athletes performance and safety but also greatly enhance the spectator experience, making sporting events more accessible and exciting for all.
RJ Sangram Khopde highlighted the importance of sports in physical fitness and mental health. He said that the young generation is the future of our country. Brigadier Abhay Bhatt (Retd) said that “activities like ‘PACE’ should be increased to develop sportsmanship among students. Sports will make the young generation more enthusiastic and capable.”
