Baramati, 2nd October 2025: Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar has instructed the authorities to prepare a comprehensive development plan for Baramati Airport, including the introduction of a night landing facility, to boost regional industry and tourism.

In a meeting at the Ministry, Ajit Pawar discussed plans for developing the runway and airport area at Baramati and also reviewed the possibility of night landing facilities at Yavatmal, Dharashiv, Latur, and Nanded airports.

“The Maharashtra Airport Development Company should take immediate action to implement the night landing facility at Baramati Airport,” Pawar said. He directed that the detailed project report (DPR) prepared by the Maharashtra State Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) be transferred to the Maharashtra Airport Development Company for further action. The Industries Department will oversee the decisions regarding the development plan.

Pawar also emphasized that a survey should be conducted in collaboration with the Airport Authority of India, and a cost estimate prepared for the proposed upgrades.

“These measures will accelerate the development of other airports in the state, including Baramati. It will also boost the industry and tourism sector,” Pawar said. He highlighted that night landing facilities at Baramati Airport would open international markets for local industries and potentially increase agricultural exports from rural areas.

The Maharashtra Airport Development Company has been asked to coordinate with the Airport Authority of India to conduct the necessary surveys and prepare a budget for the estimated costs of the airport’s development.
