Pune, 9th January 2025: Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) President Ajit Pawar has finally broken his silence on the Santosh Deshmukh murder case. Speaking in Pune, Pawar addressed the ongoing investigation and the allegations surrounding NCP leaders Walmik Karad and Dhananjay Munde.

Pawar emphasized the importance of a thorough investigation, stating, “The Special Investigation Team (SIT) and Crime Investigation Department (CID) are conducting their inquiries. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has assured that immediate action will be taken against anyone found guilty.” He revealed that he had personally discussed the matter with CM Fadnavis.

Regarding the demands for Dhananjay Munde’s resignation, Pawar said, “If people working at senior levels are guilty, regardless of party affiliation, there’s no need to blame anyone. The Chief Minister and I share the same opinion on this.” He stressed that after questioning all involved parties, they would gain a clearer understanding of the communications and events surrounding the case.

Pawar firmly stated, “Such incidents will not be tolerated in Maharashtra. The government is taking this matter seriously.” He also cautioned against making baseless allegations, saying, “The Constitution gives everyone the right to speak, but care must be taken to ensure no injustice is done to anyone.”

Addressing Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) MLA from Ashti Suresh Dhas’s allegations, Pawar advised, “Instead of just making allegations, provide evidence to the investigation agency.” He concluded by assuring that a thorough investigation is underway and that the government’s responsibility in this matter is significant. “We will not support anyone in this,” Pawar affirmed, reiterating the commitment to punish the guilty severely.
