Junnar, 3rd December 2023: In a significant boost to pending development projects, Deputy Chief Minister and Guardian Minister of Pune district, Ajit Pawar, has granted a total fund of Rs 120 crore for crucial initiatives in Junnar taluka, Pune district.

The announcement includes an allocation of Rs 80 crore for the establishment of a Leopard Safari in Junnar taluka. Additionally, a fund of Rs 40 crore has been earmarked for the construction of a well-equipped building accommodating tehsil, land survey offices, police station, and other government facilities in Junnar.

MLA Atul Benke shared the news, highlighting the impact these funds would have on accelerating long-pending development works in the region. The Leopard Safari project, initially approved in 2016-2017, gained momentum after Deputy Chief Minister Pawar allocated Rs 1.5 crore for the preparation of the Detailed Project Report (DPR). With the recent approval of Rs 80 crore, the Leopard Safari project is expected to progress rapidly.

Deputy Chief Minister Pawar, acknowledging the inconvenience caused by insufficient space for government offices in Junnar, approved Rs 40 crore for the construction of a well-equipped building. This initiative aims to enhance the civic infrastructure and improve accessibility to essential services. Furthermore, the shifting of grain godowns and the allocation of funds for the construction of new grain godowns have been sanctioned, addressing a longstanding concern.

The historic palace in Junnar is set to undergo restoration under the guidance of the Archaeology Department, with a dedicated fund of Rs 60 crore sanctioned for this purpose. Additionally, a Rs 5 crore fund has been approved for the construction of a modernized police station building at Otur.

MLA Benke expressed confidence that these sanctioned funds will catalyze the completion of various development projects, including the Leopard Safari, within the next two years. The allocation reflects the government’s commitment to fostering infrastructural development and preserving historical landmarks in the Junnar taluka region.
