Pune: Ajit Pawar’s Visit Spurs Sudden Road Repairs in Chakan MIDC
Chakan, 7th August 2025: Ahead of Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar’s visit to Chakan on Friday, the MIDC administration has suddenly swung into action, launching emergency road repair work in the industrial area.
Roads within the Chakan MIDC, including the crucial Talegaon-Chakan-Shikrapur highway, have long been riddled with potholes, causing daily traffic snarls and posing a serious threat to commuters.
Citizens, industrialists, and transporters have repeatedly raised concerns over deteriorating road conditions, increased accidents, and rising casualties. However, authorities had consistently cited the ongoing monsoon as a reason for inaction.
With Pawar scheduled to attend a private event in the Chakan area, officials have shifted to “alert mode.” Asphalt resurfacing of damaged stretches began on a war footing, particularly on roads expected to be part of the Deputy CM’s travel route.
Last week, Ajit Pawar had postponed a previously planned visit to Chakan. During his recent stop in Hinjewadi, he had assured that he would soon inspect traffic congestion and road issues in Chakan MIDC.
The sudden pace of work has raised eyebrows among locals, who question why long-standing demands for repairs were ignored until a VIP visit was announced.
“Only when ministers visit do the roads get fixed. What about our daily struggles and safety?” said a local entrepreneur, echoing widespread frustration.
