Pune: Alandi Becomes First ‘Class C’ Municipal Council in Maharashtra to Allocate Funds for Transgender Welfare

Alandi, 3rd March 2025: Alandi Municipal Council, known for its religious significance, has presented a budget of Rs 89.51 crore for the financial year 2025-26, with a surplus of ₹6.65 lakh. The budget, introduced by Administrator and Chief Executive Officer Kailas Kendre, includes no tax hikes and features a groundbreaking 3% allocation for the welfare of transgender individuals, making Alandi the first “Class C” municipal council in Maharashtra to implement such a provision.

The budget includes revised estimates for 2024-25. Special allocations have been made for the welfare of women, children, senior citizens, differently-abled individuals, and marginalized communities.

Key highlights include significant funding for improving Alandi’s water supply infrastructure, including new water tanks and pipelines. Additional provisions include the construction of three new parks, improved waste management systems, renovation and modernization of municipal schools, an upgraded underground drainage system, and a sewage treatment plant (STP). The budget also allocates funds for constructing a bypass road from Dehu Phata to Markal and a new administrative building for the council.

Administrator Kailas Kendre emphasized that these allocations aim to address Alandi’s growing population and infrastructure needs while promoting inclusivity and development.
