Alandi, 3rd April 2025: In a significant move to enhance cleanliness and improve the experience of visiting devotees, the roads in Alandi, a prominent pilgrimage site, will now be cleaned during nighttime. The initiative aims to maintain a cleaner environment in and around the Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj Temple, the circumambulation (pradakshina) route, and major roads within the town.

Alandi attracts thousands of devotees from across the state, particularly in the mornings when pilgrims arrive for darshan and the pradakshina. Previously, road cleaning operations would begin at 7 am, causing inconvenience to visitors and disrupting traffic flow. To address this issue, the Alandi Municipal Council has decided to shift the cleaning schedule to nighttime.

According to Madhav Khandekar, Chief Officer of the Alandi Municipal Council, the night cleaning schedule will cover key routes, including the temple premises, the Alandi Municipal Road to Y Junction, Y Junction to Chakan Chowk, Chakan Chowk to Vadgaon Chowk, Vadgaon Chowk to Markal Chowk, Markal Chowk to the Police Station, and from the Police Station to the Municipal Council office. Cleaning operations will now take place between 8 pm and midnight.

The municipal council has also urged residents to dispose of waste only in designated collection vehicles instead of littering on roads. Moving forward, wet and dry waste will be collected separately for processing. Strict penalties will be imposed on those found dumping waste in public areas. The council has appealed to citizens to cooperate in maintaining Alandi’s cleanliness and ensuring a pleasant environment for devotees.
