Bhosari, 10th January 2024: The menacing activities of the Koyta gang show no signs of abating in Pimpri-Chinchwad, as the city witnesses an alarming surge in attacks.

In the first eight days of the New Year 2024 alone, five cases of Koyta attacks, causing widespread panic, have been officially reported. The latest incident unfolded under the crowded Rajmata Jijau Flyover in Bhosari, where three assailants brandishing Koytas threatened and robbed a youth, demanding money for alcohol.

Nilesh Fakira Kale, a 31-year-old resident of Dighi, filed a complaint at the Bhosari Police Station detailing the harrowing experience. The arrested suspects identified as Sunil Janardhan Sakat (32), and Deepak Ramkishan Hazare (27), along with their accomplice Pawan Chhagan Ujagare (all residents of Bhosari), face charges in connection with the incident.

According to the complaint, Kale was standing under the Rajmata Jijau flyover with his friend Sajan Shelar when the three accused, who were acquaintances, approached them. Sakat, one of the assailants, demanded money for drinking alcohol and resorted to physical violence when Kale refused to comply. The situation escalated when Sakat inflicted a Koyta wound on Kale’s ear, creating a sense of terror among the onlookers.

Sakat further stole one thousand rupees from Kale’s shirt pocket, while Hazare assaulted the victim. Ujagare then proceeded to extract an additional Rs 700 from Kale’s pant pocket. The presence of a Koyta in the assailant’s hands heightened panic among the citizens present at the scene.

Bhosari Police Station officials are investigating the matter further.
