Pune: Alarming Surge in Missing Minors: 18 Reports in 2 Weeks, Including 14 Girls

Pune, 31st May 2023: An unsettling surge in missing minors has caught the attention of Pune City Police, with a staggering 18 reports filed within a span of just two weeks. Disturbingly, 14 of these missing individuals are girls, while the remaining five are boys. Initial police investigations suggest that many of these cases are linked to romantic relationships, heightening concerns expressed by the state women’s commission about the growing number of underage girls disappearing from various regions across the state.

The intensity of the situation became evident on May 24, when a total of five reports were filed in a single day. This distressing influx comprised four missing girls and one missing boy. Additionally, between May 14 and 20, a total of 13 cases were reported to the police, involving 10 girls and three boys. The age range of these missing minors spans between 14 and 17 years.

The five minors reported missing on May 24 were identified as four girls and a boy aged between 14 and 17 years. The complaints were lodged at various police stations, including Sinhagad Road Police Station, Kothrud, Warje, Yewalewadi, and Kondhwa.
