Pune: All Parties March For Regular And Clean Water Supply To Fursungi 

Fursungi, 19th December 2022: All party workers and local citizens staged a protest on Saswad Road, Bhekrai Nagar, Pune, to protest against the contaminated water supply to the Fursungi, Bhekrai Nagar area.

Citizens have been complaining that the area is being supplied with contaminated water for the past several days. Due to the supply of muddy and polluted water, the angry citizens blocked the Pune Saswad Road by staging a sit-in agitation at Bhekrai Nagar Chowk. Due to this, there was a traffic jam.

Due to the cessation of water supply to the canal from the Khadakwasla dam, the water level of the adjacent wells has decreased. Therefore, water shortage is felt even before summer, the residents said.

Contaminated water from the canal descends into the well. Further, the same contaminated water is treated to some extent and given to citizens for consumption.

Drinking water also has to be bought by tankers. It is also not available on time now. Hence, the citizens are angry. The road was closed since 10.45 am. The police took the protesters aside and tried to regulate the traffic.
