Pune: Alternative Road From Pune Airport To Viman Nagar To Reality Soon, Defence Ministry Grants Permission
Pune, 20th September 2022: MP Girish Bapat has informed that the Defence Ministry has given permission to the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) to work on connecting an alternative road to Viman Nagar on the 0.58 acre (2350 sq m) defence land at the Pune Airport.
Bapat said that since the PMC was not allowed to work on only 0.58 acres (2350 sq.m.) of Defence land, which is an alternative road connecting Pune Airport to Viman Nagar, the said road was pending for many years. So citizens had to use other alternative distant roads to reach Viman Nagar and Airport.
Also, there was a lot of traffic congestion in this area. Alternatively, citizens were facing delay and mental distress in reaching their desired destination. Also, the said road was very necessary for the newly expanded airport. Therefore, Pune MP Bapat was following up with Defence Minister, Civil Aviation Minister and officials of the concerned department to make the said land available to the municipality at a nominal rate and start the road work immediately.
As a result of the said follow-up recently the Ministry of Defence as a special matter has given permission to the PMC to work on connecting the proposed 20-meter-wide road to Viman Nagar on 0.58 acres (2350 sq.m.) defence land. Permission has been granted for this at a nominal annual license fee ( Rs 1 per sq m, Rs 2350 per annum). Due to this the work on this road will start immediately.
