The Federation representatives warned that the decision not to take the wet waste from the societies and to dispose of the waste at their level is very oppressive and will have adverse effects on the health of the people. However, the Commissioner said that this decision has not been taken at the municipal level but by the central government.

He further informed that the central government has taken this decision in the year 2016 and since it has not yet been implemented, the central government is continuously pursuing that the municipal corporation should implement this decision immediately. Due to this, now the Municipal Corporation has no choice but to implement this from October 2, 2022.

A workshop will be organized by the municipality for all societies regarding the same. Singh promised to hold a comprehensive discussion on how this project of the central government can be successfully implemented with the cooperation of the municipality and the society.

At this time, the Federation officials also gave a detailed statement to the Commissioner.

Dattatray Deshmukh, President of the Federation said, “Municipalities or Central Government are looking at these big societies as ‘Big Garbage Creators’ and are insisting that all those who fall into this category should dispose of their wet waste in their premises.”

He added, “How many big garbage creators are there in the city, if it is 30 per cent, then if the problem of waste is really to be solved, the municipality should have a cluster plan for the waste management of the municipality like wards, that is, an all-inclusive solution given by Dattatray Deshmukh.”

On this occasion, the representatives of the Federation discussed the various problems involved in implementing this project. The problems included: the financial situation of the societies disturbed due to the purchase of tanker water, the increased expenses of the old societies on building repairs, when the waste is properly sorted, the collection done by the municipal contractor while picking it up, the resulting tendency to dump it on the heads of the societies, lack of space, pollution within the premises of the society, high capital expenditure and daily expenditure on plant implementation.

Following the thread of the discussion with the Honorable Commissioner, the Deputy Commissioner assured full cooperation and expected the same response from the societies.

Officials of the federation informed, “Despite the strong displeasure in the society, they have once again taken the role of cooperation, but if there is no cooperation from the party, there is a high possibility that it will erupt into agitation. Also, society is playing with our lives from the perspective of health.”
