Pune: Alternative Route To Sinhagad Road Completed, Road To Open For Traffic Within A Month
Pune, 27th April 2022: The work of right canal road, which is an alternative road to Sinhagad road and is stalled due to lack of funds, has reached the final stage. One side of the road is being completed and work on the other side has been completed. The road will be opened to traffic in the coming months. Therefore, after many years, an alternative route will be available to Sinhagad road.
Sinhagad Road is the only road to reach Donje, Khadakwasla, Kirkitwadi, Nanded City, Dhayari, Wadgaon, Sun City, Manikbagh.
The fact that this alternative road to Sinhagad road has been stalled since last year due to non-availability of funds of Rs 3 crore. The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has undertaken the work of flyover between Rajaram bridge and Funtime Cinema as there is no alternative road. Although there are five alternative roads to Sinhagad road, the fact remains that they remain on paper.
As an alternative road to Sinhagad Road, the Municipal Corporation had proposed the alternative route between Funtime Cinema and PL Deshpande garden. The road from Funtime Cinema to Hingane has been completed and opened to traffic. This road is being used by all vehicles coming from Vitthalwadi Chowk.
Hingane to PL Deshpande garden has been completed and in the last phase, the work of 500 meters length has been stalled. A fund of Rs 3 crore is required to complete this work and make the width of this road 7.5 meters. However, this fund has not been made available by the PMC road department since last year. Therefore, people could not use this road.
The municipal administration has allocated Rs 54 crore in the budget to solve the traffic congestion in this area by constructing alternative roads to Sinhagad road.
