Pune: Amit Shah to Unveil Grand Statue of Peshwa Bajirao at NDA on 4th July
Khadakwasla, 1st July 2025: A grand equestrian statue of Peshwa Bajirao I, the legendary undefeated will be unveiled at the National Defence Academy (NDA), Khadakwasla, on Friday (4th July). The statue will be formally inaugurated by Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah at a ceremony scheduled for 10:45 AM.
The event will witness the presence of key dignitaries, including Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar, Union Minister of State for Cooperation and Civil Aviation Murlidhar Mohol, City Group Director Aniruddha Deshpande, Bajirao’s descendant Pushkar Singh Peshwa, and NDA Commandant Admiral Gurucharan Singh.
The statue has been installed by the Shrimant Thorale Bajirao Peshwe Pratishthan, an organisation established to preserve the legacy of the legendary general. The foundation is led by retired Air Marshal Bhushan Gokhale as president and Kundan Kumar Sathe as secretary. The installation of the statue was made possible with support from former Rajya Sabha MP Vinay Sahasrabuddhe and the cooperation of Amit Shah, who facilitated the required permissions. City Group’s Aniruddha Deshpande also extended support for the project.
Standing at a height of 13.5 feet, the statue has been crafted using 4,000 kilograms of bronze by sculptor Vipul Khatawkar. It reflects Bajirao’s indomitable spirit and unmatched military prowess, as he never lost a single battle in his 40-year lifespan.
The foundation hopes the statue will serve as a constant source of inspiration for cadets at the NDA, reminding them of the valor and strategic brilliance of one of India’s greatest military commanders.
