Pune: Anti Extortion Squad Arrests Couple Who Were Illegal Moneylenders

Pune, 3rd November 2022: The Anti-Extortion Squad arrested the couple who were running illegal moneylenders. A case has been registered against them at Sinhagad Police Station. Jairam Nivrutti Pokale (43) and his wife Hema alias Rekha (36), both residents of Dhayari, have been arrested. A woman has filed a complaint at the Sinhagad road police station.

 

The complainant woman is residing in the Dhayari area and was known to the accused Pokale. The woman had taken Rs 6.45 lakh from the accused at 15 per cent interest for the business. After that, till May 2022, the woman paid Rs 9.45 to Pokale as interest.

 

 

The woman’s friend had borrowed Rs 5.5 lakh from Pokale on interest. The friend of the complainant woman returned Rs 7.32 lakh to him with interest. After that, Pokale signed a memorandum of understanding and demanded Rs 18.83 lakh from them as principal and interest. In the agreement of understanding, it was written that if the money is not returned, the possession of the flat will be taken. Pokale threatened the woman as well as her friend.

 

As a fine, Pokale demanded Rs 21.39 lakh from both of them and threatened to take possession of the flat. Finally, the woman lodged a complaint with the Anti-Extortion Squad of the Crime Branch. After that, the police took action and arrested the couple.
