Pune: Arjun, Rishita in Finals of Gadre Seafoods-MSLTA ITF Grade 3 Junior Tennis Championship

Pune, 6th December 2024: Arjun Rathi and Rishita Reddy Basireddy advanced to the boys’ and girls’ singles finals of the Gadre Seafoods-MSLTA ITF Junior Grade 3 U18 Tennis Championships for the MV Deo Trophy, organized by Deccan Gymkhana under the auspices of ITF, AITA, and PMDTA at the Deccan Gymkhana Tennis Courts.
In the boys’ semifinals, Arjun Rathi, who recently clinched a similar Grade 3 title in Delhi, continued his winning streak by defeating 15-year-old Vihaan Reddy of the USA 7-5, 6-2. Rathi will face fifth-seeded Aaron Gabet of France, who registered a 7-5, 6-2 victory over Russia’s Fedor Altukhov.
In the girls’ singles semifinals, second-seeded Rishita Reddy Basireddy edged out India’s Aishwarya Jadhav in a marathon match lasting three hours, winning 6-3, 4-6, 7-6(3). Rishita will now face top-seeded Japanese player Aoi Watanabe, who overcame fourth seed Yasaman Yazdani of Iran 6-4, 7-5.
In doubles action, the Japanese duo of Cocomi Saito and Rio Wakayama claimed the girls’ doubles title, narrowly defeating India’s Riya Sachdeva and Japan’s Aoi Watanabe 6-3, 3-6, 10-8. In the boys’ doubles final, the Russian pair of Alan Aiukhanov and Fedor Altukhov secured the title with a hard-fought 7-5, 7-6(7) victory over New Zealand’s Cody Atkinson and Roshan Santhosh of the USA.
The winners received the MV Deo Trophy, while the runners-up were awarded trophies. The prizes were distributed by ITF White Badge Referee Leena Nageshkar, former Davis Cup player Sandeep Kirtane, Dr. Vikrant Sane (Tennis Secretary, Deccan Gymkhana), and ITF Supervisor Vaishali Shekatkar.
