Pune: Army Jawan Assaulted Over Minor Dispute In Uruli Kanchan; Case Filed Against Two

Uruli Kanchan, 31st May 2025: An Army jawan was allegedly assaulted by two individuals over a minor dispute in Uruli Kanchan on Saturday (31st May) afternoon. The incident occurred between 12:30 pm and 1:00 pm near the service road adjoining the Pune-Solapur highway. A non-cognizable offence has been registered against the two attackers at the Uruli Kanchan Police Station.
The victim has been identified as Santosh Krishna Deshmukh (43), a resident of Gadkari Vasti, Uruli Kanchan, who currently serves as a havaldar in the Indian Army, stationed at the Bhuj border in Gujarat. Deshmukh had returned home on leave and was traveling with his wife at the time of the incident.
According to police, the couple had just refueled their two-wheeler and were heading home along the service road when a motorcycle from behind brushed against their vehicle. Deshmukh reportedly told the riders to drive carefully and asked if they couldn’t see. Enraged by the comment, the two men allegedly hurled obscene abuses in front of Deshmukh’s wife, physically assaulted him, tore his T-shirt, and fled the scene.
Deshmukh later approached the Uruli Kanchan Police Station and filed a complaint. The police have registered a non-cognizable offence and are currently investigating the case.
