Pune: Army Jawan attacks wife with knife suspecting her character

Pune, May 25, 2020: A 32-year-old Army jawan has been arrested for allegedly attempting to commit suicide after trying to kill his wife with a knife in the wee hours of Sunday. Police said that the accused soldier allegedly suspected character of his wife. The incident took place in Vishrantwadi.

Police have identified the arrested soldier as Rohit Vijay More (32) of Shantinagar. He is serving in the Indian Army  as a cook and currently posted in Jammu and Kashmir. His wife Mohini (29) has sustained multiple injuries and currently admitted in the hospital. The woman’s brother Sagar Prakash Alhat (33) has filed complaint with police.

According to police, More had come home to Shantinagar on a month’s leave. Ever since he came home, there have been arguments going between the couple as he suspected character of his wife. There was an argument between them on Sunday night too. An angry Rohit attacked his wife with a knife and seriously injured her. When he saw his wife in critical condition, he tried to commit suicide by stabbing in the neck and arm. Police arrested More on Sunday evening.
