Dapodi, 24th November 2023: A 34-year-old officer from the College Of Military Engineering (CME) in Dapodi has reported fraudulent online activity, resulting in a loss of ₹74 lakhs.

The officer filed a complaint at the Bhosari Police Station (Pimpri Chinchwad Police), detailing the incident that unfolded between March 23 and September 27.

A case has been registered against an unidentified individual operating under the guise of a Tripadvisor Travel Agency. The suspect, using the name Disha on Telegram (9063919476), and another individual identified as Swinal on Telegram (6009645004), along with the Trip Advisor Travel Agency Customer Care Number (6387129625), are implicated in the fraud.

According to the police report, the accused repeatedly contacted the complainant, urging them to click on a provided link. The pretext was a purported travel agency task portal affiliated with Trip Advisor. The complainant was lured with promises of substantial returns upon successful completion of assigned tasks. Subsequently, when the complainant faced challenges in task completion, the fraudsters demanded additional funds, claiming it would recover the initially invested amount.

The accused managed to extract a total of ₹74,03,449 from the victim, who, despite compliance, was deceived without the promised returns. The Bhosari police have initiated an investigation into the matter, focusing on tracking down the individuals involved in the online scam.
