Pune: ‘Atmanirbhar’ Petrol pump where people can refuel their vehicles themselves

Pune, June 14, 2020: When you go to the petrol pump to fill up the car, you have to wait till the employee arrives. However, now a ‘self-fuelling’ (Atmanirbhar) petrol pump has been started in Pune. If you go to this petrol pump, you can fill petrol on your own. This initiative has been started at the petrol pump located at RTO chowk in the backdrop of Coronavirus pandemic.

At this petrol pump, sanitiser is given to the customer first on arriving. The staff then instructs the concerned customer on how to fill up the petrol. After that the entire process has to be done by the customer. This is the first experiment of starting a self-reliant petrol pump in Maharashtra.

Ketan Joglekar (36), who was filling fuel at the petrol pump, said, “Apart from social distancing, this will also ensure that the right amount of fuel is filled, and there is no doubt in the minds of customers. In the past, there have been many incidents of petrol being stolen by employees while filling petrol.”

Another customer Rohan Singh (26) added, “This will help create transparency. I have felt cheated on many occasions in the past.”
