Pune: ATS Custody Of Four Suspected Terrorists Extended Till August 11

Pune 5th August 2023: The custody of four suspected terrorists arrested by the Anti Terrorism Squad (ATS) and Pune City Police was extended by the Pune court on Saturday. The four accused whose custody was ending today were produced before the court by the ATS team.

The ATS officials while seeking their custody for 10 days informed the court that they have recovered India’s Map and some banned Literature from the arrested accused. The investigation team also said that the accused are members of ISIS terrorist organisation and they were working on instructions of one of the handlers who was communicating with them via mail and phone.

According to officials more people are likely to be involved in the conspiracy as some of the accused were in touch with different people using different names. The ATS also informed the court that the arrested accused conducted bomb tests inside their residence and they received all the information about explosives using internet despite having less technical knowledge.

It may be noted that the Pune City Police officials had arrested Mohammad Imran Mohammad Yunus Khan and Mohammad Yunus Mohammad Yakub Saki both wanted by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in a terror-related case in Rajasthan from Kothrud. Further investigation led to the arrest of two more accused identified as Simab Nasaruddin Qazi and Kadir Dastagir Pathan as the case was handed over to ATS. ATS officials have also taken the custody of Zulfikar Ali Barodawala in the case who was already arrested by NIA in a case related to Maharashtra module of ISIS.
