Pune: Attempt Made To Set Woman On Fire For Refusing To Withdraw Rape Complaint
Pune, 20th January 2023: To withdraw the complaint of rape, an attempt was made to pour petrol on a woman and set her on fire. In this incident, the woman survived. A search operation for the concerned accused is going on.
A case has been registered against Ramzan Khalil Patel (60) in this regard. The 38-year-old woman has filed a complaint at Mundhwa Police Station. Ramzan Patel and the woman knew each other.
In 2018, he had taken the victim to Barshi on the pretext of going on a tour, where he raped her. In this case, the woman had lodged a complaint against Patel at the Pangri police station in the Solapur district. The case of rape has been filed in Solapur court, and the hearing is going on.
Ramzan had come to the woman’s house a few days ago. He threatened the woman to withdraw the rape case in the premises of the society where the woman lived. He abused her and threatened her to withdraw from the crime. Ramzan tried to set her on fire by pouring petrol from a bottle on her body. A search is being carried out for Ramzan. Police inspector Kakde is investigating.
