Pune: Autorickshaw Driver Dies by Suicide in Chinchwad, Names Money Lenders in Video and Note
Chinchwad, 4th January 2025: A shocking incident of death by suicide due to fear of money lenders’ (Savkar) torture has occurred in Pimpri Chinchwad. The incident happened yesterday in Chinchwad’s Saibaba Nagar area. The victim made a video of himself before dying by suicide, after which he hanged himself. Along with the video, he also left a suicide note explaining the reasons for his actions.
The deceased has been identified as Raju Narayan Rajbhar (age 45, resident of Sai Baba Nagar, Chinchwad). His son Ganesh (age 19) has filed a complaint at Nigdi Police Station. A case has been registered against Hanumanta aka Avinash Gunde (resident of Chikhali), Mahadev Phule (resident of Chinchwad), Rajiv Kumar aka Guddu Bhaiyya (resident of Pimple Saudagar), and a woman.
According to police reports, the deceased was a rickshaw driver who had borrowed money from the accused. Even though he had returned the principal amount, the interest was still pending. The accused had frequently entered the deceased’s house forcibly and threatened him with death. Succumbing to this pressure, he hanged himself.
Assistant Commissioner of Police (Crime 1) Dr. Vishal Hire stated that the complaint about the suicide was made yesterday night. The complaint alleges that even though the deceased had returned the money, it was still being demanded repeatedly. Due to this constant pressure, the man decided to end his life.
A case has been registered, and two accused have been arrested. ACP Dr. Hire urged, “If someone is pressuring you for money illegally, contact us. We will take strict action.”
