Pune: Autorickshaw driver returns bag with diamonds worth Rs 7 lakhs, felicitated by cops

Pune, January 22, 2020:  An honest auto driver returned diamond ornaments worth Rs seven lakhs which a woman passenger had left in his autorickshaw.

On 20th Jan, around 5 pm Shobha Sandeep Lunkad (55), a housewife from Bibvewadi-Kondhwa road, Pune, had gone to Camp for shopping.

While going home from shopping, she got down from autorickshaw near the Apsara theatre to meet her son at his office. After a while, Shobha realized that she had forgotten her shopping bag in the autorickshaw. The bag had a diamond bracelet worth of Rs five lakhs, diamond earrings worth of Rs two lakhs and clothes worth Rs 3000, totally worth Rs 7.03 lakhs. She immediately reported the matter to Swargate Police station.
Accordingly, a team under the leadership of senior police inspector Bramhanand Naikwadi began the search for the autorickshaw. While the cops were still searching when autorickshaw driver Tukaram Yadavrao Kale, resident of Sasanenagar, Hadapsar, returned the bag with ornaments to the police station.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 2) Shirish Sardeshpande and ACP (Swargate division) Sarjerao Babar felicitated Kale for his honesty.
