Pune : Autorickshaw drivers assault engineer with sharp weapons for opposing high fare

Pune, January 25, 2020: A 37-year-old man and his 69-year-old father-in-law was assaulted by four autorickshaw drivers, when the opposed high fare demands by them on Friday evening near Senapati Bapat Road.

Kamlakar Kisan Mudgal, an engineer, from Panchavati, has lodged FIR with Chatushrungi police station, Pune city police, against the accused persons.

According to FIR, the incident took place around 6:30 pm near Hyundai service centre in Janwadi. Kamlakar and his father-in-law Anil Sukhdev Dhotre (69) were waiting for autorickshaw.

Kamlakar told police, “At that time one auto, MH12 QS 2297 came near us. Since the auto driver was asking for more money from me, I waited for another auto. Meanwhile, the auto driver was arguing with my father in law. I told the driver to go from there. He parked his auto and beat me up. There came another auto driver and he too hit me. When I told them that I would complain to police, he called their two unknown friends who hit us. They attacked us sharp weapon on head and knee.”

They went to nearby Ratna hospital and then for further treatment they were admitted to Jahangir Hospital in Kothrud.

Police have registered case against Yogesh Pawar, Vishal Pawar (Sonabhai) and two unknown people.
