Pune, 14th November 2022: After a case was registered against Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Jitendra Awhad for molesting a female Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) official, BJP state president Chandrashekhar Bawankule criticized Awhad.

Bawankule stated, “Awhad has committed molestation. We have also seen the video. He has said that he will resign as an MLA. However, he should be expelled from NCP by Sharad Pawar and Ajit Pawar.”

But Ajit Pawar stood by the challenge and stated, “There is no need for Awhad to resign. We are with him.”

Both leaders interacted with journalists separately in Pune today (November 14).

NCP MLA Jitendra Awhad was recently arrested in connection with the cancellation of the show of the Marathi film ‘Har Har Mahadev’. Apart from that, a case of molestation was also registered against him. Due to this, Jitendra Awhad has announced that he will resign from MLA’s seat saying that two false cases have been filed in 72 hours against him.

Due to this, NCP has become aggressive against the Shinde-Fadnavis government. The NCP is alleging that Home Minister Fadnavis is responsible for the decision of Awhad’s resignation.

Ajit Pawar, Leader of the opposition party, said, “While working in political life, we are working under the guidance and leadership of Sharad Pawar. He has seen many growths as well as failures in his political life, he has seen many transitions. Sometimes we are in the government and sometimes we are in the opposition party, hence, many incidents happen. But the way the government of Eknath Shinde and Devendra Fadnavis is working in Maharashtra right now, at one point in my viewing, those who were beaten up when they went to shut down the film, said that Jitendra Awhad saved them in it. Even so, a case was registered against him, and he was also kept overnight in a police station.”

“At the same time, there is no doubt that the government must maintain good law and order. Every person should respect the constitution. The Constitution of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar should be respected, the law should be respected. There is no reason for anyone to disagree about this,” Ajit Pawar added further.
