Pune, 31st October 2021: It seems the sales for e-bikes in India is spicing up. With rising fuel prices, many have turned to e-bikes. But Bajaj Auto MD Rajiv Bajaj has set off the stage by criticising the new entrants into the market.

In a press conference he said that Bajaj will eat out the new entrants in the electric bikes as breakfast. Sarcastically, he said, “We are champions and will eat OATS for breakfast. By OATS he meant (Ola, Ather, Tork, Motors and SmartE)”.

He was speaking at a press conference organised to launch a new motorbike. He said, “I bet on BET (Bajaj, (Royal) Enfield and TVS that they are champions and have proven track record. Bajaj is a 75-year-old company which has adapted to challenges over the years. Challenges were in form of scooters to motorcycles, regulations, competition and others.”

Responding to this criticism CEO of Ola Bhavish Aggarwal in his tweet shared burn emoji while sharing a tweet by an user which states, “Lol. You are not even in the competition. Ola sold 90 k scooters in one window while Ather sold 1800 EVs in July along. Bajaj Chetak has sold 3300 units from January 2020 to July 2021!”

While Tarun Mehta, CEO of Ather tweeted, “Must say, OATS and BET acronyms by Rajiv Bajaj made my day today. Never a dull moment in this industry”.
