Pune: Baner-Pashan Link Road Land Acquisition Dispute Ends After 15 Years; Rs 68 Crore Compensation Paid

Baner, 28th September 2026: The 15-year-long deadlock over land acquisition for the Baner-Pashan Link Road has finally been resolved, with the land acquisition process completed and the district administration issuing the final award.
The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has paid around ₹68 crore in compensation to the affected landowners and has now begun the process of taking physical possession of the acquired land. The development is expected to provide relief to residents of Baner, Pashan, Sutarwadi and adjoining areas.
As per Pune’s sanctioned Development Plan (DP), a 36-metre-wide DP road has been proposed through Survey Nos. 134 (part) to 138 and 140 in Mouje Peth Pashan. The road, known as the Baner-Pashan Link Road, has been delayed for several years due to pending land acquisition.
Once completed, the road is expected to provide an alternative route for traffic between the Baner and Pashan areas and help improve connectivity in the surrounding neighbourhoods.
The PMC completed the legal land acquisition process and paid approximately ₹68 crore as compensation. The district administration subsequently issued the final award. Following this, a PMC team began visiting the site to initiate the process of taking possession of the acquired land.
PMC Commissioner Naval Kishore Ram, Additional Municipal Commissioner (Special) Omprakash Divate, Deputy Commissioner of the Land Acquisition and Management Department Nikhil More, along with officials from the concerned sub-engineering, junior engineering, property, construction and road departments, followed up on the land acquisition process.
According to the civic administration, coordination between the Special Land Acquisition Officer’s office, district administration and PMC helped resolve the long-pending issue.
After obtaining physical possession of the land, the PMC Road Department is expected to take up the remaining work on the road on priority.
The civic administration plans to open the road to motorists and residents at the earliest.
