Youth Found On Dr Neelam Gorhe’s Pune Home Terrace With Hammer, Rope And Gloves; Police Probe Motive

Shivajinagar, 28th September 2026: An unidentified young man was found on the terrace of Shiv Sena leader and Maharashtra Legislative Council member Dr Neelam Gorhe’s residence, ‘Silver Rocks’, in Pune’s Model Colony in the early hours of September 26.
He was carrying several items, including a hammer, pliers, rope and gloves, according to information shared by Gorhe.
Security personnel and police officers deployed at the residence noticed the man and immediately detained him before handing him over to Shivajinagar police. A case has been registered at the Shivajinagar Police Station in connection with the incident. Gorhe was out of town when the incident occurred.
Speaking at a press conference, Gorhe said the security guard went up to inspect the water tank after noticing that the water supply to the house had stopped. The guard then spotted the youth on the terrace.
According to Gorhe, the water connection had been cut. She said the circumstances surrounding the disruption of the water supply required investigation. CCTV footage reportedly showed the youth reaching the terrace at around 3 am and remaining there until morning.
“Although documents examined during the police investigation indicate that he is a student, the question is why anyone would remain on another person’s premises for such a long period while carrying tools and other items,” Gorhe said.
Gorhe also said she had heard that some people had allegedly called the police seeking the youth’s release. She said the Police Commissioner had assured her that no such calls would influence the investigation.
She added that whether the incident had any political motive would become clear only after the police investigation.
Gorhe further said that stones had been thrown at her residence in the past and that she had also received threats. She called for a fresh security assessment of the premises.
She also raised concerns about inadequate lighting in the area, including non-functional streetlights on nearby roads.
“Possibility of an attempt to commit theft cannot be ruled out. However, the exact motive will be established only through the police investigation,” Gorhe said.
