Baner, 20th March 2026: In a major crackdown on the narcotics trade, the Baner Police have arrested two individuals for allegedly smuggling and selling marijuana (Ganja) near Jupiter Hospital. The operation resulted in the seizure of over 16 kilograms of the contraband and other equipment, totaling a value of approximately ₹8.76 lakhs.

The action was initiated following a confidential tip-off received by Police Inspector (Crime) Alka Sarag on March 16, 2026. The information suggested that two men would be arriving near the PMC swimming pool adjacent to Jupiter Hospital in Baner to sell drugs.

Acting on the instructions of Senior Police Inspector Chandrashekhar Sawant, a specialized team—including PI Alka Sarag, API Kailas Daberav, and API Ganesh Raikar—laid a trap at the specified location. Around 1:30 AM, two men arrived on a black Honda Shine motorcycle. Upon noticing the police presence, the duo attempted to flee but were intercepted and detained after a brief chase.

The accused have been identified as:
Abhishek Bhika Borse (24), a resident of Saidutta Residency, Chinchwad.
Akshay Bhika Borse (29), from the same residence.

During the initial search, the police found 3.034 kg of marijuana in a red bag carried by the suspects. Subsequent investigations and a raid on their residence in Chinchwad led to the discovery of an additional 13.088 kg of pure marijuana, an electronic weighing scale, and packaging materials.

The total seizure includes:
Contraband: 16.122 kg of Marijuana.
Vehicle: A Honda Shine motorbike.
Other items: Two large branded bags and weighing equipment.
Total Valuation: ₹8,76,490.

A case (Crime No. 68/2026) has been registered at the Baner Police Station under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, including Sections 8©, 20(b)ii(B), and 22(B).

The police team included Ganesh Gaikwad, Babasaheb Aaher, Kisan Shinge, Sandesh Nikalje, Atul Ingale, Pradip Kharat, Pritam Nikalje, Sharad Raut, Gajanan Avatirak, Rohit Pathrut and Swapnil Marathe.
