Pune: Major Traffic Diversions Announced for Ramzan Eid Namaz in Camp on Saturday
Camp, 20th March 2026: The Pune City Traffic Police have issued a comprehensive traffic advisory detailing significant road closures and diversions on Saturday for the Ramzan Eid namaz. To ensure the safety of devotees gathering for mass prayers (Namaz) and to maintain smooth traffic flow, several key routes, particularly around the Golibar Maidan area in Camp, will be restricted.
The advisory, issued by Himmat Jadhav, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic), will be in effect on the day of Eid (expected to be March 21) from 6:00 AM to 11:30 AM.
Key Road Closures and Alternative Routes
1. Solapur Road (Bhairoba Nala Chowk to Golibar Maidan Chowk)
Restriction: General traffic will be diverted as needed. Heavy vehicles heading from Solapur to Swargate/Market Yard are prohibited from this stretch.
Alternative Route: Vehicles should turn left at Bhairoba Nala Chowk, proceed via Prince of Wales Road and Lullanagar Chowk to reach their destinations. Light vehicles may use Empress Garden Road.
2. Mammadevi Chowk to Golibar Maidan Chowk
Restriction: This route will be completely closed to all vehicular traffic during the specified hours.
3. CDO Chowk to Golibar Maidan Chowk
Restriction: All types of vehicles are prohibited on this stretch.
Alternative Route: Vehicles coming from Lullanagar must turn left at CDO Chowk. A temporary right turn has been opened at Khatav Bungalow Chowk; drivers can proceed via Napier Road and Mammadevi Chowk, passing Bishop School.
4. Swargate to Solapur Road (Seven Loves Chowk to Golibar Maidan)
Restriction: Traffic will be diverted to facilitate prayers at the Eidgah Maidan.
Alternative Route: Vehicles from Swargate should turn right at Seven Loves Chowk, proceed through Salisbury Park Road to CDO Chowk, then take a right turn and a left at Khatav Chowk to continue toward Solapur.
5. Old Solapur Bazar Chowki Chowk to Golibar Chowk
Restriction: This route will be completely closed.
Alternative Route: Vehicles from Khane Maruti Chowk should travel via Pulgate Depot, Solapur Bazar Chowk, and Napier Road to reach Khatav Bungalow.
6. Lullanagar Chowk to Golibar Maidan Chowk
Restriction: Heavy vehicles are strictly banned from using this route during the restriction period.
General Instructions for Commuters
The Traffic Police have noted that similar mass prayers will be held at various other Eidgah grounds and mosques across the city. Depending on the local situation and crowd density, traffic in those specific areas may be temporarily diverted or closed by local authorities.
Essential Services: Vehicles such as fire engines, ambulances, and other emergency services are exempt from these restrictions and will be allowed passage.
The Pune City Traffic Police have urged citizens to cooperate with on-duty officers and utilize the designated alternative routes to avoid inconvenience.
