Pune based Dr. D.Y. Patil Institute of Engineering bags the first runner up award
Pune ,21 October 2019 : K. J. Somaiya College of Engineering, Mumbai, Maharashtra was announced as the winner of the 9th edition AAKRUTI Design Competition organised by Dassault Systèmes. The Mumbai based college bagged cash prize of Rs. 1,00,000 at the hands of Mr. Suchit Jain, Vice President, Strategy & Business Development, Dassault Systemes Solidworks in the presence of Marie Planchard, Senior Director of Education & Early Engagement, Dassault Systemes SolidWorks, Kishor Sarvade, Education Business & Early Engagement Initiatives – India & SAARC, Dassault Systemes.
- J. Somaiya College of Engineering, Mumbai, Maharashtra represented by team Crio of Sumedh Manjrekar and Nilesh Gandhi emerged as the winner for their project titled “the Solder Pen for holding, accuracy & heating”. Pune based Dr. D.Y. Patil Institute of Engineering, Management and Research secured the 2nd position and won the cash prize of Rs. 60,000 as they were declared the first runners up for their project Therman – Electricity from waste heat of gas stove at the hands of the present dignitaries.
AAKRUTI competition is an innovation-driven platform to shape student’s imagination and bring their innovative designs to life using Dassault Systèmes product design applications encouraging students to showcase their design skills, creativity, and innate talent. Team Facile Fabricators comprising Vignesh S and Subasre S R from Bannari Amman Institute of Technology, Sathmangalam, Tamil Nadu bagged the 2nd runner up award worth Rs. 40,000 for their Autonomous Water Cleaner project. Shilpa Thakur of SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Chennai, Tamil Nadu and Kartik Dhadwal from Bangalore Institute of Technology, got the encouragement award worth Rs. 20,000 for their Autonomous Water Cleaner product. SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Chennai, Tamil Nadu bagged the trophy for the best college in the competition.
This year the theme for the competition were Smart Energy, Small is big, Water is Life, Waste to Wealth to Wonder. Launched in the year 2011, AAKRUTI has been tremendous response from all over India in the last eight years. This year more than 4900+ students from 330+ colleges across 26 states in India participated in the competition.
