Pune, 12th January 2023: The Bavdhan Citizens Forum (BCF) has written to the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) regarding the additional property taxes assessed against the recently added villages of Bavdhan Budruk and Bavdhan Khurd.

The property tax has increased, according to the letter sent to PMC. Even after transferring control of Bavdhan Budruk village to Pune Municipal Corporation in July 2021, the latter is neglecting to give residents access to necessities like electricity, water, and roads. The residents are having a lot of issues as a result.

Residents complain that the Pune Municipal Corporation has not provided any justification for the increased property tax. It has an impact on at least 25,000 residents, according to the letter. Residents are willing to pay taxes if only the most basic services are offered.

Manish Deo, a member of the Bavdhan Citizens Forum, expressed sympathy for the inhabitants who lack even the most basic amenities while paying more taxes.

Residents who have taken possession and have occupation certificates before 2021 are subject to additional taxes, according to another member, Nachiket Deshpande of the BCF. The taxes for these residents may be paid in instalments over five years. Residents who obtained their occupation certificates after July 2021 must pay the additional property tax in full. Therefore, they are asking PMC for assistance to receive some respite from the payment methods applied to properties before 2021. They have urged PMC to use the same procedure for everyone who received their OC after July 2021.
