Pune: Bavdhan Residents Protest Civic Neglect, Give 7-Day Deadline for Action
Bavdhan, 12th November 2025: Tired of years of civic neglect and unfulfilled promises, around 350 residents of Bavdhan, including children, women, and senior citizens, came together on Sunday to form a human chain demanding long-pending basic amenities. The protest, organized by the Bavdhan Citizens’ Forum, aimed to draw the authorities’ attention to the pressing issues affecting daily life in the fast-growing suburb.
The citizens put forth a detailed list of key demands to improve essential infrastructure and safety in the locality.
Their demands include:
-Removal of the road blockage at Ranwara Lane to ease traffic movement.
-Appointment of dedicated traffic management personnel at Omkar Garden Chowk to control congestion, especially during rush hours.
-A complete ban on heavy vehicles during peak morning and evening hours to prevent accidents and traffic snarls.
-Establishment of an independent substation of the Maharashtra State Electricity Board (MSEB) to ensure uninterrupted power supply across Bavdhan.
-Construction of an encroachment-free, well-developed road from Windmill Society to the MNGL Pump to improve connectivity.
-Stabilization of water supply in residential areas to end frequent shortages.
The peaceful demonstration saw the participation of civic activists and local representatives, including Krunal Ghare, Aarti Karanjawane, Mayuresh Wanjale, Disha Wanjale, and officers from the Bavdhan Police Station. Forum members said that leaders from all political parties were informed about the agitation in advance.
The Bavdhan Citizens’ Forum has given a seven-day deadline to the concerned authorities to initiate concrete action on their demands. If the issues remain unresolved, the forum has warned of launching a more intensive agitation.
With their slogan “Basics First,” the residents of Bavdhan have sent a strong message that civic accountability and quality infrastructure can no longer be delayed.
