Pune: BCS Student Who Jumped from Metro Station in Pimpri Chinchwad Succumbs to Injuries

Pimpri Chinchwad, 25th February 2025: The 21-year-old Bachelor of Computer Science (BCS) student who jumped from the first floor of Sant Tukaram Nagar Metro Station in Pimpri Chinchwad has died at midnight. Eyewitnesses had reported that he appeared critically injured, and despite doctors’ best efforts to save him, he lost his battle with death.

The deceased has been identified as Sujal Sunil Mankar, 21, a resident of Pimpri and a native of Khed Manchar. He was studying at Dr. D.Y. Patil Science & Computer Science College in Nigdi Pradhikaran. A case of accidental death has been registered with Pimpri Police Station.

Pimpri Police stated that the boy was apparently depressed due to financial problems and some personal family issues, which he had mentioned but never shared in detail. He jumped around 6:30 PM and was rushed to Yashwantrao Chavan Memorial (YCM) Hospital in Pimpri.

An eyewitness rickshaw driver, speaking to the media, said, “He jumped from Sant Tukaram Nagar Metro Station at around 6:30 PM. He was alone and in very critical condition. We took him to the hospital in my rickshaw. He had an iPhone, which we tried to unlock but couldn’t. He looked unlikely to survive.”

YCM Hospital pronounced him dead around midnight. His family has arrived, and his last rites will be performed in his village, according to sources.

Senior Police Inspector Ashok Kadlag, in charge of Pimpri Police Station, told Punekar News, “The boy died late at night; he was in very critical condition. The reasons behind his jumping from the Metro Station are some financial problems and personal family issues. We have taken statements from his friends and family. The investigation is ongoing.”
