Pune: Bee Attack Injures 19 at Wedding in Junnar Taluka

Junnar, 7th May 2025: A swarm of honeybees attacked guests at a wedding ceremony in Khadkumbe village on the Junner-Naneghat route, injuring 19 people, including three children. The incident occurred around 2:30 pm during the wedding rituals when an unknown person threw a stone at a mango tree near the venue, disturbing a beehive. The bees swarmed and targeted the wedding guests, causing multiple stings and injuries.
Among the injured, three are undergoing treatment at the government hospital in Junner, seven are being treated at private hospitals, and one seriously injured child was transferred to the Sub-District Hospital in Manchar. The remaining injured received treatment and were discharged. Medical officer Dr. Rahul Sarde confirmed the severity of the child’s condition and the ongoing medical care.
The attack caused panic and chaos at the event, but the wedding resumed after a brief pause. Authorities are investigating the cause of the disturbance that led to the bee attack. Local officials have advised caution during outdoor gatherings in rural areas to avoid provoking bee colonies.
