Khadakwasla, 26th June 2023: In a bid to maintain social harmony, the Bilal Masjid Trust of Khadakwasla, Pune, has made a significant decision regarding the celebration of Bakrid (Eid Al Adha). With Ashadhi Ekadashi falling on the same day as Bakrid, it has been decided that Eid will be celebrated on the following day without offering Qurbani (animal sacrifice) on the day of Ashadhi Ekadashi.

To ensure clear communication of this decision, the Mosque Trust has issued a leaflet appealing to the Muslim community. The Trust emphasizes the importance of maintaining social harmony and has taken this step in that spirit.

In support of maintaining law and order, Anmol Mittal (IPS), officer-in-charge of Haveli police station, visited Bilal Masjid in Khadakwasla and held discussions with the trust’s office bearers. He appealed to them to cooperate in maintaining peace and also gave instructions to plan the traffic considering the large number of Muslims expected to gather at the mosque for Eid prayers.

During the interaction, the office bearers assured that no activities have ever been taken in the history of Khadakwasla Masjid Trust or by the Muslim community in the area to disturb law and order. Recognizing the simultaneous occurrence of Ashadhi Ekadashi and Eid, the mosque trust made the socially beneficial decision to defer Qurbani to the following day instead of performing it on Ashadhi Ekadashi. This decision has been warmly welcomed by all residents in the area.

Noor Syed, President of Bilal Masjid Trust, Khadakwasla, expressed, “Bilal Masjid Trust has always taken the initiative to maintain social harmony. In response to the appeal by Haveli Police Station and to respect the religious sentiments of other faiths, we have decided not to offer Qurbani on the day of Ashadhi Ekadashi. This decision has been communicated to all Muslims in the area through an open appeal.”

IPS Anmol Mittal, Officer-in-Charge of Haveli Police Station, Pune Rural, commended the decision, stating, “We are striving to prevent any untoward incidents that could disrupt peace in the area. The decision made by Khadakwasla Masjid Trust is highly supportive in terms of promoting social harmony.”
