Pune, 26th June 2023: The water levels in the dams of the Khadakwasla chain, which supply water to Pune city, have shown a notable increase as of 5 pm today. The recent rainfall has contributed to the rise in water levels, bringing relief to the region. Khadakwasla Dam, Panshet Dam, Warasgaon Dam and Temghar Dam supply water to Pune city.

The total combined water storage of the four dams in the Khadakwasla chain is currently 4.16 TMC, which is approximately 14.27% of their total capacity. Comparatively, last year at this time, the dams held 2.85 TMC, accounting for 9.79% of their total capacity.

The increase in water levels is a positive development for Pune city’s water supply. It will help alleviate concerns about water scarcity and ensure a more stable water supply in the coming months. However, authorities continue to emphasize the importance of water conservation and urge residents to use water judiciously.

As the monsoon season progresses, the Pune Municipal Corporation and related agencies will closely monitor the water levels in the dams to ensure an adequate and sustainable water supply to meet the city’s needs.
