Pune, 16th February 2023: Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis visited Pune yesterday to hold meetings with traders, Ganapati Mandals, and business representatives to discuss issues in the Kasba Assembly constituency.

According to a survey, BJP is struggling to win the Kasba by-election, and Fadnavis is reportedly working to try to gain votes through meetings without holding public programs.

Fadnavis held a meeting at Savarkar Bhavan in Deccan, followed by a discussion with city businessmen, industrialists, and major Ganpati Mandal office bearers at the residence of Shivajinagar MLA Siddharth Shirole. The Kasba Assembly Constituency includes major markets in the city, such as Laxmi Road, Raviwar Peth, Guruvar Peth, Bajirao Road, Shivaji Road, and more. Traders and customers in these areas have faced problems, and the discussions focused on improving and solving these issues at the state and central government levels.

Federation of All Trade Associations’ president Fatehchand Ranka, and secretary Mahendra Pitaliya presented the group’s demands during the meeting, including the cancellation of professional tax on salaries and the provision of convenient space for wholesale and semi-wholesale markets in the city. The group also proposed that the rehabilitation of 478 slums in the city should be considered.

Sports Minister Girish Mahajan, Public Works Minister Ravindra Chavan, BJP City President Jagdish Mulik, and other BJP representatives were also present during the meeting.

The Kasba Assembly Constituency’s campaigning has reached its peak, with the Congress candidate Ravindra Dhangekar posing a significant challenge to BJP. Fadnavis is reportedly taking an active role in the campaign after the survey revealed that BJP may lose the by-election. Other BJP leaders, such as Sports Minister Girish Mahajan and Public Works Minister Ravindra Chavan, are also camping in Pune to try to gain votes.

Overall, Fadnavis’ meetings with traders and business representatives in Pune suggest that BJP is making a concerted effort to address the issues faced by constituents in the Kasba Assembly Constituency and win the upcoming by-election.
