Pune, 26th June 2021: Criticising the Mahavikas Aghadi (MVA) government for creating a rift between Other Backward Class (OBC) and Maratha community, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national secretary Pankaja Munde staged a road blockade in Pune near Katraj chowk.

BJP carried out similar protests across Maharashtra against MVA regarding the encroachment on the rights of the OBC community. While addressing a rally of over 2500 people she said, “Because of MVA OBC had to come to streets to protest. MVA failed to submit the ‘Empirical Data’, as demanded by the Supreme Court while pronouncing the judgement on the Maratha reservation. MVA is holding Centre responsible for their failure in getting the reservation for Maratha community”.

She demanded that the local council elections should be held back till the Election commission does not implement the reservation for OBC. “A committee which will include a leader from the opposition party should be made and submit a report to EC”, she said.

“Maratha community reservation is for education and jobs while OBC here is asking political reservation”, she mentioned adding that there is no fight between Maratha and OBC community over it. MVA is trying to create a rift between these two communities, she alleged.

Pune MP Girish Bapat too participated in the stir and spoke on the occasion. “MVA has created confusion in the society regarding the reservation. The government should take note of it”, Bapat said.

Pune city BJP president Jagdish Mulik too was present along with Medha Kulkarni, Madhuri Misal, Bhimrao Tapkir, Sunil Kamble among many others.
