Shivajinagar, 13th February 2022: Pune city police has registered a case against 300 workers of Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) including its city president Jagdish Mulik for gathering without permission at the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC).

The BJP workers had gathered at the PMC on Friday to felicitate their leader Kirit Somaiya who was heckled by the Shiv Sena workers a week ago at the same spot.

On February 5, Somaiya had gone to hand over a complaint alleging a scam in the functioning of the COVID jumbo centre. However, Shiv Sena workers prevented his entry at the entrance of the PMC building as they wanted to give him a memorandum. In the melee, Somaiya fell on the stairs and sustained injuries on hand. He was admitted in Sancheti hospital for one day.

Around 4.30 pm on Friday (Feb 11), Somaiya again went to the PMC building where BJP workers had gathered in a large number. They made a forceful entry into the premises and felicitated Somaiya on the stairs.

Among those named in the FIR are Jagdish Mulik, Bapu Mankar, Rajesh Yenpure, Deepak Pote, Dhananjay Jadhav, Datta Khade, Ganesh Ghose, Pratik Desarda among others.

Police have booked them for unlawful assembly, damage to public property among other charges under the Indian Penal Code (IPC). PSI Shivraj Hale has lodged the complaint.
