Pimpri-Chinchwad, 26th December 2025: The Bharatiya Janata Party will release its first list of candidates for the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation elections on Sunday, December 28, BJP MLA and city election campaign chief Shankar Jagtap said on Friday.
Addressing the media, Jagtap said the final list of BJP candidates has already been submitted to the party’s state office. Senior party leaders have reviewed the proposed names constituency-wise, and a detailed meeting was held in Mumbai in this regard. Members of the party’s core committee were present at the meeting, where candidates were assessed assembly segment-wise.
Jagtap clarified that while names from several wards where candidature is nearly final have been approved at preliminary levels, the ultimate decision will rest with the party leadership. The state leadership and the core committee will take the final call on the list before it is officially announced.
Emphasising the party’s approach, Jagtap said the BJP works with a clear vision of development and is confident of victory in the upcoming civic elections. He asserted that opposition unity would not affect the party’s prospects in Pimpri-Chinchwad.
According to him, the BJP has a long-standing tradition of doing justice to loyal workers, and care will be taken to ensure that no dedicated party worker feels sidelined after the candidate list is announced.
He further stated that the BJP, being the world’s largest political party in terms of membership, remains open to welcoming individuals who wish to work with a development-oriented vision. Jagtap added that the strength of the party lies in its grassroots workers and that elections are won on the basis of their support and commitment.
Speaking about the party’s strategy, Jagtap said candidates with strong winnability, as indicated by surveys, are being prioritised. He expressed confidence that the BJP has a large pool of candidates with proven electoral merit and predicted a “thumping majority” for the party in the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation.
Jagtap also reiterated that once the party leadership issues its final आदेश, all workers unite and work collectively, setting aside individual aspirations. He said the party leadership is mindful of ensuring fairness to loyal workers and expressed confidence that the BJP will secure a decisive victory and retain control of the civic body.
