Pune, 8th February 2024: Tensions rise as the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) issues a warning of potential disruption to senior journalist Nikhil Wagle’s scheduled meeting at Sane Guruji Smarak near Dandekar Bridge on Friday at 6 pm. BJP city president Dheeraj Ghate has formally urged Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar not to permit the gathering.

The ‘Nirbhay Bano’ meeting, titled ‘To defend democracy against oppression, be fearless,’ is planned in memory of Sane Guruji, and senior journalist Nikhil Wagle is slated to lead the event. Notable figures such as actor Amol Palekar, Adv Asim Sarode, and Nitin Vaidya are expected to be present.

In a letter addressed to the Police Commissioner and officials at Parvati Police Station, Ghate expressed concerns that allowing Wagle’s meeting could disrupt the harmonious atmosphere in society. He urged authorities to disallow the gathering, citing potential impacts on social harmony.

However, organizers of the event remain resolute, affirming that the meeting will proceed as scheduled.
