Pune: BJP Worker Threatened With Revolver Over Sewerage Contract Dispute, PMC Junior Engineer Among 2 Booked

Pune, 22nd July 2024: A Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) worker was threatened with a revolver and threatened to be killed in Ganj Peth over a contract dispute with the Pune Municipal Corporation’s sewerage department. The Khadak police have registered a case against a junior engineer from the sewerage department and his brother in connection with the incident.
The case was filed against junior engineer Ganesh Rajendra Gite (37) and his brother Mahesh Gite (35), both residents of Kirad Galli, Bhawani Peth. BJP activist Nirmal Motilal Harihar (36), who resides near Mangal Club Mitra Mandal in Ganj Peth, lodged the complaint at Khadak Police Station.
According to police reports, Nirmal Harihar, a contractor for the Municipal Corporation, was on his way to a BJP executive meeting in Balewadi on Sunday, July 21, around 2:30 PM. While staying near Mangal Club Mitra Mandal in Ganj Peth, he was approached by Ganesh Gite and his brother Mahesh, who are known to him.
Ganesh Gite allegedly placed a revolver against Harihar’s stomach and threatened him, questioning his involvement in a tender worth ten crore rupees. Harihar’s complaint stated that Gite threatened to kill him.
DCP (Zone 1) Sandeep Singh Gill, Assistant Commissioner Machhindra Khade, Senior Police Inspector Vishwajit Kaingde, and Inspector (Crime) Santosh Khetmalas rushed to the scene upon receiving information about the incident. ACP Khade is currently leading the investigation.
