Koregaon Park, 22nd July 2024: Disputes between passengers or drivers and bus conductors are not uncommon. These arguments sometimes escalate to the point of involving the police. Recently, a heated exchange between a police constable and a Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) driver took place in Pune’s Koregaon Park area, drawing significant attention on social media.

The altercation began when a PMPML driver allegedly drove too close to the police constable’s bike, leading to a verbal argument that quickly escalated into a physical confrontation. A video shows the constable and the driver grabbing each other’s collars and exchanging blows, with the constable seen beating the driver while he was still seated. This entire incident was captured on video and has since gone viral, sparking widespread criticism of the constable’s behavior.

Following the incident, both parties were taken to the Koregaon Park Police Station where they settled the dispute through mediation. The police constable involved, identified as R.A. Waghmare, submitted a formal application to the Senior Police Inspector of Koregaon Park Police Station, acknowledging the ‘minor dispute’ with the PMPML driver, Bhagwat Torne, on July 21 (Sunday).

“I had a minor dispute with the PMPML driver. We went to the police station where we resolved the issue amicably. I have no complaint against him. I have compensated him Rs 3,000 for the damages incurred to the PMPML,” Constable Waghmare wrote in his application.
